Providing support to Wyoming Highway Patrol employees and their families
ALMOST 100 years of history...
In 1933, Governor Miller went before the Wyoming Highway Commission and proposed the establishment of a Highway Patrol. It was agreed, and in June, the Wyoming Highway Patrol was founded.
President’s Message
The Wyoming Highway Patrol Association (WHPA) is a dedicated organization committed to supporting the brave men and women of the Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP) in their mission to maintain safety and security on our state’s roadways. The association was founded in 1974 to provide a range of services and support to enhance the professional and personal lives of our Troopers, Dispatchers, Port of Entry Officers, and our civilian support staff, ensuring they have the resources needed to serve the public effectively. We support ongoing training and professional development opportunities for our Troopers, ensuring they have access to the latest knowledge and techniques in law enforcement and public safety.
We provide financial, emotional, and logistical support to our Troopers and their families, particularly in times of need. This includes assistance for Troopers injured in the line of duty, scholarships for their children, and support for families of fallen officers. The WHPA provides emergency financial support to all of our members and their families during times of crisis, including injury, illness, or death. We advocate for policies and legislation that support the safety and well-being of our Troopers and the public. Our association’s concerns of Police Survivors provide Peer support from others who have lost a loved one in a line of duty death as well as yearly information sharing and grief work, financial assistance for law enforcement surviving children in need of psychological counseling, scholarships to surviving children and surviving spouses, and support during trials and parole hearings of “Cop Killers.”
We also support several charities helping those in need, including the Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run, and annual “Shop With a Cop” events for children in need during the Christmas Season. We are dedicated to educating the public on road safety, promoting responsible driving behaviors, and advocating for laws and policies that enhance highway safety in Wyoming. The WHPA works to build strong relationships between the Highway Patrol and the communities they serve. We organize and participate in community events, outreach programs, and educational initiatives to foster trust and collaboration. Once each year, the WHPA recognizes the heroic or distinguished efforts of members of the Wyoming Highway Patrol as well as the general public.
The WHPA welcomes support from individuals, businesses, and organizations who share our commitment to public safety and community service. Whether through donations, sponsorships, or volunteer efforts, your support helps us make a difference.

Sincerely,
