Dear Senator/Representative,

We now turn to our civilian heroes: Dispatchers, who are the “lifeblood” of our emergency coordination network.

Our Dispatch professionals are on average 15.6% behind MPP. (Pgs. 10&11) This failure is acutely felt in Dispatch, a 24/7, high-stakes, technical role:

  • The average pay for a Dispatch Trainer is lagging the market midpoint by 17.5%. (Pg. 10) This annual deficit of $9,270 is critical, as it undermines the retention of specialized technical knowledge.

  • Dispatchers require rapid, precise decision-making skills to manage state-wide resources, including coordinating Troopers who are covering 200+ mile sectors in extreme weather.

This woefully inadequate compensation is permanent due to having a no-step increase structure, pushing highly trained individuals to accept better offers from neighboring jurisdictions, leaving critical communication nodes vacant.

Sincerely,
Matt Arnell
