Trooper Danny Robinett Represents Wyoming as ‘Guardian of the Flame’ at International Torch Run Conference

Minneapolis, Minnesota — October 15–19, 2025

Wyoming Highway Patrol Trooper Danny Robinett proudly represented the State of Wyoming at the International Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) Conference held in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The annual event brought together hundreds of law enforcement officers from across the world, united in their support of Special Olympics and the movement’s message of inclusion.

Trooper Robinett attended alongside his wife, Kayla Robinett, who also serves as Area III Co-Director for Special Olympics Wyoming’s Law Enforcement Torch Run program.

Honoring the Fallen and Upholding the Flame

Trooper Robinett was honored to be selected as a “Guardian of the Flame,” a distinction that placed him at the forefront of both the opening and closing ceremonies.

During the conference’s Remembrance Ceremony, he carried the badge in tribute to law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. Among those recognized was Sergeant Nevada Krinkee of the Sheridan Police Department.

“Being selected to serve as a Guardian of the Flame, representing the State of Wyoming, was a tremendous honor,” said Trooper Robinett.

Torch Run and Polar Plunge

The event also featured the annual Torch Run for Special Olympics, where Trooper Robinett joined fellow officers and Special Olympics athletes carrying the Flame of Hope together through the streets of Minneapolis. The run concluded at Target Field, home of the Minnesota Twins.  The Twins organization was commended for providing a memorable ending point for the run.

Following the Torch Run, Trooper Robinett, and Team Wyoming, went a step further, making a “splash” by taking part in the Polar Plunge. Team Wyoming gained attention with their distinctive uniforms, described by attendees as having “knocked the boots off” the competition.

Building Connections Through Inclusion

Throughout the week, officers, Special Olympics delegation and Special Olympic athletes from around the world exchanged experiences and strategies for strengthening relationships between law enforcement and their communities. The conference’s theme—Inclusion—was echoed in keynote addresses and breakout sessions focused on service, leadership, and advocacy.

Keynote speaker Victoria Arlen, ESPN personality and Paralympian, delivered an inspiring message that resonated deeply with attendees. Reflecting on her remarks, Trooper Robinett shared, “Inclusion is about what we can learn.”

Trooper Robinett and his wife returned to Wyoming inspired and ready to carry forward the values of the Torch Run: commitment, compassion, and community. Their dedication continues to advance the mission of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Wyoming and the partnership between law enforcement and the athletes they proudly serve.
