CHEYENNE, Wyoming — Community members, law enforcement officers, Special Olympics athletes, and restaurant staff came together on June 5, 2026, for an evening of service, laughter, and generosity during the annual Tip-A-Cop fundraiser at Texas Roadhouse in Cheyenne.
Organized by the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) for Special Olympics Wyoming and hosted by Texas Roadhouse, the event ran from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and proved to be another tremendous success. By the end of the evening, more than $6,000 had been raised to support Special Olympics Wyoming and its athletes.
Tip-A-Cop offers a unique opportunity for law enforcement officers to trade their traditional duties for aprons, serving trays and some legendary rolls. Throughout the event, officers partnered with Special Olympics athletes and restaurant servers to assist customers by taking orders, delivering beverages, serving food, and interacting with patrons. While the work may be different from their everyday responsibilities, the mission remains the same: serving the community.
Beyond the funds raised, the event serves as a powerful bridge between law enforcement and the citizens they serve. Community members have the opportunity to meet local officers in a relaxed and welcoming environment, while also getting to know the incredible athletes who represent Special Olympics Wyoming.
For many officers, the evening provides a refreshing change of pace. Rather than responding to emergencies or difficult situations, they are able to engage with community members through positive conversations, shared laughter, and meaningful connections.
The atmosphere throughout the restaurant was filled with energy and excitement as officers, athletes, servers, and patrons worked together toward a common goal. Smiles were abundant, conversations flowed easily, and the sense of community was evident in every corner of the restaurant.
Representing the Wyoming Highway Patrol were Trooper Danny Robinett, State Deputy Director and Region III Co-Director for the Law Enforcement Torch Run, Trooper Rebecca Monnett, and Dispatcher Alyana Rowan. Their dedication and enthusiasm helped make the evening a memorable success while furthering the mission of supporting Special Olympics Wyoming athletes.
While the success of this year’s Tip-A-Cop is worth celebrating, the work of supporting Special Olympics Wyoming continues throughout the year. The next Law Enforcement Torch Run event on the calendar is the Fire Truck Pull on August 15, 2026, where teams from across the community will test their strength and teamwork while raising funds and awareness for Special Olympics Wyoming.
Organizers are also already looking ahead to the next Tip-A-Cop event, expected to take place in October. Following this year’s outstanding turnout and generous support from the community, law enforcement officers and Special Olympics athletes are hopeful to see another packed house as they once again come together to serve a great cause.
As another successful Tip-A-Cop event comes to a close, one thing remains clear: when law enforcement, athletes, businesses, and community members unite for a common purpose, the impact reaches far beyond the dollars raised. Events like Tip-A-Cop strengthen relationships, build understanding, and demonstrate the power of community working together to support a remarkable cause.
